Pete Cooper played minor league baseball from 1922 to 1924, 1927 to 1929, 1931 and in 1938. He also managed the Jonesboro Giants in 1938.

He played for the Cedar Rapids Bunnies in 1922 and 1923, hitting .293 in 294 at-bats and .296 with 23 doubles in 331 at-bats, respectively. In 1924, he played for the Williamsport Grays, hitting .308 with six home runs in 302 at-bats. For the Birmingham Barons in 1927, he hit .326 in 187 at-bats, and in 221 at-bats with them in 1928 he hit .303. He split the 1929 season between the Barons and Macon Peaches, hitting .426 in 47 at-bats for the former and only .220 in 41 at-bats for the latter. In 1931, he played for the Johnstown Johnnies, hitting .250 in 372 at-bats. He played his final season in 1938, for the Jonesboro Giants, with whom he hit .306 in 173 at-bats. He managed the Giants for part of the 1938 season, but was replaced by Gus Albright.
