[edit] Biographical Information

Pete Allen played just one game in major league baseball, and this was for the Cleveland Spiders in 1893. He went 0 for 4 in this game.

He had been at Amherst College in 1892-93 and was the first major leaguer to come from Amherst. Various sources say he also attended Penn after his major league days, where he coached the baseball team and went to medical school. He became a proctologist.

"In the first inning O'Connor's hand was hit by a pitched ball and the little finger was broken. He was succeeded by Allen, a young college catcher. He caught well." - Sporting Life's report of the August 4, 1893 game which Cleveland won 7-2 over Chicago, with Cy Young pitching and Pete Allen batting sixth in the lineup
