[edit] Biographical Information
Elmer "Pep" Rambert pitched in five games in the majors in 1939-40. During a 14-year minor league career, he was a two-way player, appearing in 1,050 games of which 260 were as a pitcher. He batted over .300 as a hitter, while as a pitcher he won at least 64 games.
He was with Syracuse in 1940 and Montreal in 1941. Perhaps his most impressive numbers were posted during part of a season with Class D Cairo, for whom he hit .374 with 28 home runs in 1946. As a pitcher, he led the 1942 Atlanta Crackers with 14 victories while also hitting a decent .273 (which was the same batting average posted by teammate Charlie Letchas).
