The AAGPBL expanded in 1946, including a new team in Peoria, IL. The Peoria Redwings got off to a rocky start, finishing last their first season at 33-79, 41 games out of first place. They improved quickly the next year, going 54-57 to finish 5th in the 8-team AAGPBL. In '48, they finished 71-55, third in the Western Division and 4th overall. They made the playoffs but were swept by the Racine Belles in three straight games.
Success proved to be short-lived and they fell all the way to 36-73 and last place in 1949. They were next-to-last in 1950 with a 44-63-2 mark, then went 48-56-2 in '51. The team folded after that season, having gone over .500 just once in six years.
