Paul Powell played three years in the major leagues. Although he came up as a center fielder, in 1975 he was used mostly as a catcher.
Powell was at Arizona State University at the same time as Len Randle and Lerrin LaGrow. Powell was a first round draft pick in 1969, while LaGrow was a 6th round pick the same year, while Randle was a first round pick in 1970.
