[edit] Biographical Information

Pitcher Paul Hopkins of the Washington Senators made his big league debut on September 29, 1927 against the New York Yankees and gave up Babe Ruth's then-record-tying 59th home run of the season. He returned to the Senators in 1929 and was sold to the St. Louis Browns in midseason. After injuries ended his playing career, he worked in banking.

At the time of his death at age 99, Hopkins was the Oldest Living MLB Player. Hopkins was the last survivor from the 1929 season: Al Lopez, who outlived him, played in 1928 but not 1929.
