[edit] Biographical Information

Paul Zahniser was a hard-luck pitcher, never having a winning season in the major leagues. This was not surprising in three of his four real seasons (in the fifth he appeared in only one game) because the teams were under .500. In fact, the 1926 Boston Red Sox were so bad that even Red Ruffing went 6-15. However, the 1924 Washington Senators were a different story, going on to win the 1924 World Series. Zahniser went 5-7 while Walter Johnson went 23-7.

Prior to reaching the majors, Zahniser played two seasons for the Memphis Chicks, going 22-12 with a 3.45 ERA in 1921 and 20-12 with a 2.75 mark in 1922.
