Paul Schaal was a good defensive third baseman who survived a serious beaning in 1968 as a member of the California Angels. In October of that year, he was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the expansion draft. Although he was generally a light hitter, Schaal had a better than average ability to draw walks.
A member of the Baseball List of Rhyming Names, along with such notables as Don Hahn, Larry Sherry, Lu Blue, Still Bill Hill, Mark Clark, and Greg Legg.
