The Pastora de los Llanos are a Venezuelan winter league team that plays in the Liga Venezolana de Béisbol Profesional. The team was founded and joined the LVBP as part of most recent expansion of the league in 1991 with the Caribes de Anzoátegui. The team was originally to be named the Petroleros de Cabimas from 1991 to 1995 and played in Carora, Lara. In 1995 the team moved to Estadio Bachiller Julio Hernández Molina in Araure, Portuguesa and became the Pastora de Occidente, in an effort to "regionalize" the team in the Zulia region. In 2001, when the team's name changed again to its current monkier. The Llanos is a large grassland in Venezuela that is known for its herding, mainly of cattle.
