The Pan American Games, a multi-sport event, are held every four years between competitors from all nations of the Americas. Since the first Games in 1951, baseball has been featured on the program of the Games. The games grew out of the Central American Games which were first organized in the 1920s. In 1932, the Pan American Sports Organization was established. The first Games were scheduled to be staged in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1942 but they were postponed until 1951 due to World War II.
