Otto Miller spent his entire major league career playing for Brooklyn, under two managers, Bill Dahlen and Wilbert Robinson. Virtually all his appearances were as a catcher. He played in the 1916 World Series and the 1920 World Series.
He was born in Nebraska, and came to the majors at a young age (20) as one of the ten youngest players in the National League. However, although young, he had already played in several minor leagues.
He was considered a top defensive catcher.
After his playing career ended, Miller managed the Atlanta Crackers in 1923 and was a Brooklyn Dodgers coach for over a decade. He also coached for the Boston Red Sox.
At age 72 he died when he either fell or jumped from a fourth story window of a hospital where he had had cataract surgery.
