The Ottawa Giants joined the International League in 1951, taking the place of the departed Jersey City Giants. The team went 62-88 in its first season, finishing seventh, as a farm club of the New York Giants. No Ottawa player hit more than 6 homers and Alex Konikowski led the league in ERA (2.59) and shutouts as the team likely had a pitcher-friendly park. As a squad, they batted .229, 22 points below the league average and scored 457, 75 less than the #7 team and 206 less than the #6 team. They also struck out a league-high 766 times. The next season the club switched affiliations to the Philadelphia A's and were renamed the Ottawa A's.
