Oswald Boermans was a longtime player in the Belgian First Division. Boermans helped Belgium win Bronze Medals at the 1979 European Championship, 1983 European Championship and 1985 European Championship. In the latter event, he led all players with a .583 average. He played in the 1986 Amateur World Series. He had a tryout with the Cincinnati Reds in the 1980s, a rarity for a Belgian, but failed to win a contract. In 1990, he pitched the 8th inning of the World Amateur All-Star game in Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium.
The 33-year-old hit .297/.417/.459 in the 1995 European Championship with 10 runs and 12 RBI in 10 games as a 1B-DH. He tied Adonis Kemp for 6th in the event in RBI and was 5th with 9 walks.
