Orlando Díaz hit .304/.292/.435 as an outfielder for the Spanish national team in the 2005 Baseball World Cup. He hit .324/.400/.520 in 2006 for the Marlins Puerto Cruz, finishing 10th in the Division Honor in slugging. He batted .308/.393/.423 for CB Sant Boi in 2007. He slumped to .232/.362/.256 for Sant Boi in '08.
In the 2009 European Cup's Matino phase, Orlando was only 1 for 9 for FC Barcelona but his hit was a crucial one - a 3-run double in the 8th off former major leaguer Pat Ahearne to break a 1-1 tie and give Barcelona the game.
He is on Spain's preliminary 29-man roster for the 2009 Baseball World Cup.
