[edit] Biographical Information
Catcher Juan Gomez signed with the New York Yankees in 1964. He would play in the minors for 13 seasons, mostly with Oakland A's organization.
Gomez would go to a minor league managerial career as Orlando Gomez. He was also a coach for the Bellingham Mariners (1993-1994), San Antonio Missions (2000-2001), and Tacoma Rainiers (2002). Gomez spent 2005-2006 as a bullpen catcher/batting practice pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles, and was named manager of the GCL Orioles for 2007. He has also been on the Major League coaching staff of the Texas Rangers (1991-1992), Tampa Bay Devil Rays (1998-2000), and Seattle Mariners (2003-2004). In addition, he served as a Rangers scout in 1981-1982 and 1985, signing Jerry Browne. He is the father-in-law of José Hernández.
