Ona Dodd was one of the earliest major leaguers to come out of Texas Christian University. He played in five games for the 1912 Pirates, a team on which he was 13 years younger than teammate Honus Wagner and three years older than teammate Max Carey.
Dodd also played seven years in the Texas League. John "Oyster Joe" Martina was a teammate for several years, and Jim Delahanty was a teammate and manager for part of the 1916 season.
