Infielder Omer Muñoz was a member of the 1977 Coquivacoa, Maracaibo, Venezuela squad that played in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. In the 1984 Amateur World Series, Muñoz hit .077/.107/.115 for Venezuela, only reaching safely in 2 of 26 at-bats as their starting shortstop. Omer played in the minors for 11 years (1985-95) in the Montreal Expos, Detroit Tigers, Pittsburgh Pirates, and San Francisco Giants organizations. Munoz was a player/coach in 1995 with the Carolina Mudcats.
Munoz spent six seasons as a minor league coach and manager in the Seattle Mariners organization, serving 1997-1999 as the hitting coach of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, manager of the AZL Mariners in 2000 and 2001, and manager of the Everett Aqua Sox in 2002.
Munoz then spent three years as a manager and hitting coach in the Tampa Bay Devil Rays organization. He worked for the Bakersfield Blaze in 2003, the Charleston RiverDogs in 2004, and the Visalia Oaks in 2005.
He joined the Chicago White Sox organization with Kannapolis Intimidators as the team's skipper in 2006.
