Odie Davis played 17 games in the majors for the 1980 Texas Rangers.
Davis was at Prairie View A&M University from 1974-77, where he was a teammate in 1974 with Steve Henderson. Davis was a seventh-round draft pick by the Rangers in 1977, and played in the minors from 1977-82, coming up with the Rangers in September-October 1980.
Davis was often on the same minor league teams as Rick Lisi, who was the same age as Davis.
The only other major leaguer (through 2008) named Odie has been Odie Porter. Both players had that name as their given name rather than as a nickname.
