Oakland is located on the eastern shore of San Francisco Bay, across from San Francisco, CA, and 40 miles north of San Jose, CA. Alameda, CA, located immediately to the south, and Elmhurst, CA, which was incorporated into Oakland in 1909, have also hosted their own professional baseball teams.
