Northeast Arkansas League
From BR Bullpen
The Northeast Arkansas League was a 4-team class D league which was created from the ashes of the 1909 Arkansas State League which disbanded on July 7, and ran from 1909 through 1911, disbanding on July 5. Twenty five years later it was reestablished in 1936 as a six-team class D circuit, then shrank to four teams in 1939 before closing shop after 1941. During the nine-year existance of the league, only ten different cities were represented, eight from Arkansas and two from Missouri. Paragould, AR was the only city to field a team each year the league operated. The Blytheville, AR team was the only squad to win more than one league title, winning back to back championships in 1937 and 1938. There has been no known effort to re-start the league since the closing in 1941.
