Normie Roy grew up in Waltham, MA and went to Waltham High School. He was in the minors for three years, including with the Milwaukee Brewers, before coming to the 1950 Boston Braves. He had arm troubles which ended his career at a young age.
His nickname was "Jumbo" but he wasn't fat - he was more like a tad chunky.
