[edit] Biographical Information
First baseman Norm Zauchin played six years in the majors. His most notable year was 1955 when, playing for the Boston Red Sox, he hit 27 home runs and was third in the 1955 American League Rookie of the Year voting. He drove in 10 runs in a game on May 27th that season; in that game, he hit three home runs and a double.
He missed the 1952 and 1953 seasons due to military service.
Zauchin was also a minor league home run hitter, with 35 for Birmingham in 1950 (a team record for 37 years before Rondal Rollin broke it) and 33 for Milford in 1948.
