Biographical Information[edit]

Norihiro Akahoshi hit .295 with 381 steals in Nippon Pro Baseball. He led the Central League in stolen bases five times and twice made the Best Nine. He won six Gold Gloves in the outfield. On September 12, 2009 Akahoshi damaged his spine while diving to catch a fly by Seiichi Uchikawa. He retired at age 33 after a doctor advised continuing to play would jeopardize his life.
