Nick Schumacher is in his third minor league season in 2010.
Schumacher was 13-2 with a 2.36 ERA with 96 strikeouts in 91 2/3 innings as a college senior. He tied for the most wins in NCAA Division II while setting a school record for victories. He tied the school record of career wins by going 30-9 overall. He was named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Pitcher of the Year. The American Baseball Coaches Association named him a first-team All-American pitcher. The San Diego Padres picked him in the 28th round of the 2008 amateur draft.
Nick split his first pro season between the AZL Padres (2-0, 3.60) and Eugene Emeralds (2-2, Sv, 4.15). Assigned to the Fort Wayne TinCaps in 2009, he was amazing at 6-0 with a 1.11 ERA and 55 K to 14 walks in 56 2/3 innings.
Through August 24, Schumacher has split 2010 between Fort Wayne (3-6, 21 Sv, 3.63) and the Lake Elsinore Storm (1-1, 6.41).
