[edit] Team History
The New Britain Rock Cats are the AA affiliate of the Minnesota Twins and play in the Eastern League. They play their home games at New Britain Stadium. The club came into being in 1983 when the Boston Red Sox AA affiliate relocated from Bristol, CT to New Britain, CT and became known as the New Britain Red Sox. In 1995, the club changed their affiliation to the Twins and became the Hardware City Rock Cats. Two years later, the team changed their name again, to the New Britain Rock Cats. In 2001, they were Eastern League Co-Champions, as the last round of the playoffs was cancelled by the terrorist attacks of September 11.
