[edit] Biographical Information

Nelson Simmons, a second-round pick in 1981, made his major league debut with the utterly dominant 1984 Detroit Tigers, for whom he hit .433 in nine games. The following year he was the fourth outfielder for the 1985 Detroit Tigers.

Was the first Tiger to hit home runs from both sides of the plate in the same game on September 16, 1985 vs Orioles.

He continued to play minor league and independent ball as late as 1995.
