Shortstop Nelson Rood was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 13th round of the 1983 amateur draft. He played in the minor leagues from 1983-1990 , playing exclusively at AAA after 1985. He never hit for much power, with 3 career home runs.
Rood was a coach for the Clinton Giants in 1992.
