Texas native Neal Baker spent six active seasons in professional baseball from 1927 to 1936. Baker spent one month in the Major Leagues with the 1927 Philadelphia Athletics. Baker appeared in five games, pitching 17 1/3 innings with no decisions.
Baker also spent six seasons in the minor leagues during the same time span, building a 61-58 record while pitching 1,040 innings in 169 games. His best numbers came in his final season when he went 17-10 with a 1.04 ERA in 30 appearances for the 1936 Longview Cannibals of the class C East Texas League.
Neal Vernon Baker died at the age of 77 on January 5, 1982 at his home in Houston, TX.
