Monte Lee was a minor league player who later became a college coach.

Lee played for the College of Charleston from 1996-1999, hitting .333. Through 2009, he ranked 4th in school history with 150 RBI and 5th with 50 doubles. The St. Louis Cardinals picked him in the 39th round of the 1999 amateur draft, the first position player drafted in the history of the school. Monte hit .223/.347/.256 with 14 steals in 20 tries for the 1999 New Jersey Cardinals, manning left field. In 2000, he signed with the Texas Rangers and batted .200/.348/.245 in 44 games, with 10 steals in 13 tries, as a backup left fielder. That year, he finished his degree in elementary education.

Lee was an assistant coach for the Spartanburg Methodist Junior College in 2001-2002. He was then an assistant at the University of South Carolina from 2002-2008. In 2009, he returned to his alma mater as head coach. His club went 35-22 in his first year at the helm.
