[edit] Biographical Information
Lamont "Monte" McFarland, who came to the majors in 1895-96, had a long minor league career. He was 2-0 with the 1895 Chicago Colts.
Although primarily an outfielder in the minors, he did some pitching there, going 8-3 with Cedar Rapids in 1897. In the majors he was used solely as a pitcher.
It was reported in 1907 that Monte, who was managing Clinton, was signed to play outfield for Oklahoma City by his brother C.A. McFarland, who was managing the team. Monte himself had previously managed several seasons in the minors.
