[edit] Biographical Information

Molly Moore, one of two major leaguers nicknamed "Molly" (as an abbreviation for Maurice), played in the National Association in 1875.

Moore appeared in approximately half of the 1875 Brooklyn Atlantics' 44 games. Born in New York, NY, he was 21 at the time. His debut was on June 30.

He was in 14 games at shortstop, while Henry Kessler was in 18 at the position, Jake Knowdell was in 11 and Frank Fleet was in 9. Moore had the best range factor of the four. Knowdell was the regular catcher, while Fleet was the # 2 catcher and # 2 second baseman.

Moore's batting average of .221 doesn't seem very good, but the team average was only .197.

Moore was also the # 3 first baseman, appearing in 8 games.

The team won only 2 of its 44 games that year.
