The Milwaukees was the second minor league team to play baseball in Milwaukee, WI. When Ted Sullivan re-formed the Northwestern League in 1886, he also reformed the Milwaukee Baseball Club, but called the team the Milwaukees. The following year Sullivan was replaced by James Hart, who would later go on to manage the Boston Beaneaters. The team was barely beaten in the 1887 season by a team from Oshkosh, also led by a future Beaneaters manager, Frank Selee.
