Second baseman Mike Weathers was chosen to represent USA in the World Games in South America in 1970. He was drafted by the Oakland A's in the 1st round of the 1971 amateur draft (secondary phase).
Weathers played in the A's organization through 1976, reaching AAA. He was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 1977 expansion draft. The Blue Jays traded him back to the A's in February of 1977 for Ron Fairly. He played in the A's chain through 1978.
Weathers began his coaching career as ana ssistant at Fullerton College in 1978-1979. He was the head coach at the University of Utah in 1980-1981. He returned to his alma mater as an assistant coach in 1982-1983 and as head coach from 1984 to 1992.
Weathers then moved to Long Beach State as an assistant under Dave Snow, who was a teammate at Cerritos College, from 1993 to 2001. He has been the head coach at LBSU since 2002.
