Mike Palm played three games in the majors for the 1948 Boston Red Sox. In the minors from 1946-1948, he went 13-8, then 14-8 and then again 14-8 as part of a seven-year minor league career.
While with the 1948 Red Sox, he was 23, six years younger than teammate Ted Williams.
His birth name was not Mike, but a high school coach (whose own nickname was Mike) began calling him that. As a child, Palm remembered seeing Babe Ruth hit a home run in 1935. Mike played minor league ball briefly in 1943 but then served in World War II, in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
After baseball he went into business in Boston, MA. He and his wife had eight kids. He lived in Cohasset, MA for a number of years and died there in 2011, aged 86.
