[edit] Biographical Information
Mike "Kid" McCormick was the regular third baseman for the 1904 Brooklyn Superbas.
At 5' 3" tall, he is one of the shortest men to play major league ball. He was 21 years old during his year in the majors (earlier records list him as two years younger than he really was).
McCormick was born, and died, in Jersey City, NJ. He was a professional ballplayer at age 18, playing in Connecticut in 1901-03 and 1905-06.
McCormick later scouted for the Chicago Cubs and Brooklyn Dodgers.
He is not to be confused with two later players of the same name. The second Mike McCormick was an outfielder who played for a number of teams, including Brooklyn, while the third Mike McCormick was a pitcher. Ironically, his real name was McCormack, not McCormick, but the wrong spelling was used in baseball records.
