In 2003, pitching for the Detroit Tigers, Mike Maroth became the first pitcher in over 20 years to lose 20 games in a season. Brian Kingman had been the last holder of that distinction, back in 1980
Maroth turned to coaching in 2012 as pitching coach of the Lakeland Flying Tigers.
