Mike Gosling was a star at Stanford University who has had major league cups of coffee in 2004-06. There was some thought that he might make the Cincinnati Reds team to start the 2007 season, but he was sent to the Louisville Bats, where he posted a 2.25 ERA in his first three outings of their season.
In 1998, Gosling struck out 6 batters in one inning in a high school game. His regular catcher was injured, and the sub let two curveballs reach the backstop, and threw past the firstbaseman on another blocked third strike. (1999 Almanac)
