[edit] Biographical Information

Big burly Mike Garcia had a 14-year career, 12 seasons with the Indians. A two-time twenty-game winner, he was 19-8 in 1954, with a league leading ERA (the second time he did that) for the AL pennant winners that year. Twice he also led the league in shutouts. A mighty dependable pitcher, his winning percentage of .594 shows his value.

Garcia began his pro career in 1942. He missed the 1943-1945 seasons due to military service. He returned to go 22-9 in the California League in 1946.
