Mike Cvengros is the only major league player whose last name starts with the letters "Cv". His first four seasons in the majors as a pitcher were losing seasons, while his last two were winning seasons.

As a rookie, he pitched in one game for the 1922 New York Giants, who won the 1922 World Series, although he did not appear in the Series. Later, he pitched in the 1927 World Series for the 1927 Pittsburgh Pirates. In Game 3 of the Series, he gave up a 3-run home run in the seventh inning to Babe Ruth. In his last major league season, he pitched for the pennant-winning 1929 Chicago Cubs, but did not appear in the 1929 World Series with them.
