Biographical Information

Mike Lynch had an undefeated record as a pitcher for Brown University. He attended law school during his major-league playing days, eventually graduating from Boston University School of Law. He went on to a successful legal career in Providence, RI, especially in the area of corporate law. He served on several boards of directors. He died of a heart attack in 1927, shortly before his 47th birthday.

Lynch had a 43-32 record in the majors, making him one of the most successful major league pitchers out of Brown University. He is said to have attended Brown from 1899-1904, and he had already pitched in the minors in 1898.

As a pitcher with the Pittsburgh Pirates of Honus Wagner's day, he went 15-11 in 1904 and 17-8 in 1905 for his two most notable seasons. It was not his fault that the Pirates, who had won the pennant in 1901-03 before he arrived, would not win again until 1909, after he had left.
