[edit] Biographical Information
Mike Lehane was the regular first baseman in 1890 and 1891 for the Columbus Solons. While he was a decent enough fielder, his hitting was below average.
The Solons had used Bill Greenwood in 1889. He hit .225 for them. Lehane in 1890 hit .211 and in 1891 hit .215. After that the American Association folded.
Until 2004, Mike Lehane's statistics included play in 1884, until SABR researchers discovered the 1884 play was by a different individual, named James Lehan.
The book Baseball in Columbus has a photo of the 1890 Solons, including Lehane.
