Miguel Lahera has pitched in the Cuban Serie Nacional and for the Cuban national team, including in the Olympics.
Lahera was unimpressive in his first three seasons, with a 6.60 ERA and 3-8 record. He made significant strides at age 21/22 in the 2006-2007 Serie Nacional, going 4-5 with a 3.28 ERA for La Habana. He was better for La Habana in 2007-2008, with a 6-3, 2.72 record and 55 strikeouts in 56 1/3 IP. Given his progress, he was added to the Cuban roster for the 2008 Haarlem Baseball Week. In that event, he allowed 5 hits in 3 innings but only one run and saved one win. Lahera was then a late addition to the Cuban team for the 2008 Olympics, replacing Yuniesky Maya in the bullpen.
In the Olympics, Lahera was Cuba's least-used hurler, allowing one hit, two walks and one run in three innings while striking out two in two games.
