Middle Atlantic League
From BR Bullpen
The Middle Atlantic League (or Mid-Atlantic League) was a class C league from 1925 through 1951, with a break from '43-'45 due to World War II. The league was based primarily in Ohio and southwestern Pennsylvania. The year 1931 was a particularly turbulent one for the league, as Hagerstown moved to Parkersburg (June 28), then to Youngstown (July 12), and Jeannette moved to Altoona (May 23), then Beaver Falls (July 18). In 1932 the league contracted from 12 teams to six. World War II also proved to be rough on the league. Of the six teams in 1942, only Erie returned after the war in 1946. No city competed every year, with Johnstown, PA represented for 19 out of the 24 seasons and Charleston, WV (12) the only other city competing for at least half the seasons.
