[edit] Biographical Information
Michael Kelly was a first-round pick in the 2011 amateur draft.
After leading his team to a state title, Kelly was taken by the San Diego Padres with the 48th pick of the 2011 amateur draft. He was their second selection, following Cory Spangenberg. Like Spangenberg, the scout was Willie Bosque. The pick was compensation for the loss of Jon Garland to free agency.
