Infielder Mel Cole played minor league ball in 1938 with Tacoma, in 1939 and 1940 with Wenatchee, and with the Spokane Indians as player-manager in 1946. He died in the Indians' bus tragic bus crash, along with several teammates, on June 24, 1946.
