Matti Emery is a catcher.
In 2008, he played for the Weyburn Beavers in the Western Major Baseball League in Canada. He had a .222 avg in 72 AB with 10 runs and 16 hits, 8 RBI's, a triple and two HR. He was tied for fifth on his team that year for runs scored, and was eighth overall in hits.
For the 2009 season, Matti played for the Gauting Indians in Bundesliga. He hit .241/.241/.379 in 10 games and allowed 17 steals without throwing out a runner. As his mother was Lithuanian, he did not take a foreign roster spot. He also played for the Indians at the 2009 Open international de Rouen tournament, helping his team beat the Quebec team 12-0 on July 24, 2009.
As a youth in Canada, Matti played for the Ottawa Nepean Canadians, a league for 15-18 yr olds.
