Matthew Blackmore has played at the highest levels of Australian baseball, representing the state of Victoria in Australia's Claxton Shield.[1]
Blackmore competes for his home club, Sandringham Royals during the Australian summer. He made his Claxton Shield debut in 2007, going 3-0 and tossing 6 1/3 shutout innings, allowing 3 hits. [2] In the Australian winter that year, he came to Europe to pitch for the top Czech squad, Draci Brno. He went 3-0 with a 0.50 ERA, second in the league. [3] [4]
In the 2008 Claxton Shield, Blackmore had a 4.50 ERA but saved four games, best in the tournament. [5] He pitched for the second-tier French club Bois-Guillaume in 2008. [6]
Matty allowed two runs in three innings for Victoria in the 2009 Claxton Shield. [7] That year, he also pitched for Australia in a friendly match against the Taiwan national team, tossing a scoreless inning in a 5-4 loss. The only batter to reach was Boston Red Sox prospect Che-Hsuan Lin. [8]
For 2009, Blackmore moved up to France's top tier, the Division Elite, joining the Montpellier Barracudas. [9]
