Matt Sczesny was a minor league manager in the Boston Red Sox chain for 11 years from 1960 to 1970. He started with the Waterloo Hawks in 1960, leading them to the league title. He started with Waterloo in 1961, but was moved up to the Winston-Salem Red Sox to replace Elmer Yoter. Back in Waterloo in 1962, he guided the team to the best record in the league. Sczesny started 1963 with Winston-Salem, but was swapped with Bill Slack in midyear and finished the season with the Wellsville Red Sox. He was back in Waterloo in 1964, and then Wellsville again in 1965. 1966 was his seventh year in the organization, and the first time he managed in a city not beginning with "W", as he managed the Oneonta Red Sox. Sczesny managed the Greenville Red Sox in 1967-1968. He returned to Winston-Salem in 1969, then moved up to AA ball in 1970, managing the Pawtucket Red Sox. Sczesny was then a scout for the Red Sox until at least the mid-80's.
