First baseman Matt McBride began his professional career in the Cleveland Indians organization.
On July 30, 2011, he was one of four young players traded to the Colorado Rockies in return for Ubaldo Jimenez; the others were Ps Drew Pomeranz, Alex White and Joe Gardner.
