Pitcher Matt Lindstrom spent two years on a Mormon mission after graduating from high school and prior to attending Ricks College. He was drafted by the New York Mets in the 10th round of the 2002 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Jim Reeves and made his pro debut that summer.
Lindstrom made his MLB debut on April 4, 2007 for the Florida Marlins in their 7-6 loss to the Washington Nationals. He pitched a scoreless third of an inning in his debut.
On the final day of the 2008 season, he picked up a save against the New York Mets; with that, he became the last man to pitch in Shea Stadium, as the Mets moved to Citi Field in 2009.
